Pack your beach bags! Storyteller House is excited to present The Cabana at Cookeville Performing Arts Center this spring. Set against the backdrop of a beachfront resort in the Florida Keys, The Cabana is a story of the unshakable strength of women’s friendships, forged in youth and tested by time. After a chance meeting as girls at a poolside cabana, Margaret, Jackie, Carolyn, and Nancy form a bond that weathers the storms of love and loss. Across decades, as their lives unravel and rebuild in unexpected ways, they return to the same resort—for the nostalgia, the escape, and the refuge they find in each other.
Auditions: MARCH 29 - 10AM-12PM @ COOKEVILLE CHILDREN'S THEATRE
Rehearsals: May 3-June 5

The play opens in the present day in Rose Hill, Mississippi, with urgent late-night phone calls summoning the children and grandchildren back to their family home. As the siblings reunite, the family's kitchen becomes a battleground for old grudges,
and a safe place for sharing long-buried secrets. It's family, sickness, and death, and somehow, thankfully, that also means it's comedy.

The restaurant itself remains an unseen presence, hinted at only by muffled sounds: the clinking of glassware, bursts of laughter growing louder, and the faint strains of live music—a solo singer blending into the ambiance except when punctuated by the sudden opening and closing of the bathroom door. But behind that door, a different world unfolds. Isn’t it fascinating what truths and dramas emerge in the quiet, private space of the bathroom?
