Just when the Martin family thinks they've survived one impossible family gathering, they're called back to Rose Hill, Mississippi, for one more request. Charged with sorting through generations of family possessions and deciding what becomes of the family's legacy, the cousins return to find that grief, resentment, and unfinished business are still taking up more space than anything stored in the garage.
As memories surface and long-buried tensions reignite, a prized family car becomes the center of a growing battle over inheritance, identity, and belonging. Long-estranged relatives emerge, loyalties are tested, and everyone seems to have their own idea of what should be kept—and who deserves it.
Filled with humor, heart, and the messy complexities of family, The Garage is a poignant and often hilarious exploration of what we inherit, what we leave behind, and the ties that bind us even when we'd rather drive away.
Picking up where The Kitchen left off, The Garage opens July 7th at Cookeville Performing Arts Center - tickets on sale June 1.

In "The Kitchen," the Martin family navigates the complexities of their relationships amidst the backdrop of their patriarch Barney's declining health. The play opens in the present day in Rose Hill, Mississippi, with urgent late-night phone calls summoning the children and grandchildren back to their family home. As the siblings reunite, the family's kitchen becomes a battleground for old grudges,
and a safe place for sharing long-buried secrets. It's family, sickness, and death, and somehow, thankfully, that also means it's comedy, because laughter is what holds family together.

As the lively hum of happy hour fades and the dinner rush begins to taper off, a bustling restaurant transitions into its next act, filling with bar patrons. The restaurant itself remains an unseen presence, hinted at only by muffled sounds: the clinking of glassware, bursts of laughter growing louder, and the faint strains of live music—a solo singer blending into the ambiance except when punctuated by the sudden opening and closing of the bathroom door. But behind that door, a different world unfolds. Isn’t it fascinating what truths and dramas emerge in the quiet, private space of the bathroom?
